Historic Kenwood is one of St. Petersburg's best-known historic neighborhoods, stretching roughly from 1st Avenue North to 9th Avenue North between 19th and 34th Streets. The area was first platted in 1912 and grew quickly during the Florida land boom of the 1920s. Today, more than half of its homes are bungalows, alongside Mediterranean Revival, Colonial Revival and other early-20th-century styles.
In 2003, the Kenwood Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing more than 2,000 historic buildings across roughly 375 acres. Tree-lined streets, brick roads, front porches and alley garages give the neighborhood a character that is hard to find anywhere else in Pinellas County.
Kenwood's southern edge meets the Grand Central District, with its local restaurants, coffee shops, galleries and shops along Central Avenue. Downtown St. Pete and the waterfront are a short drive east, and Interstate 275 is minutes away.
Neighboring Disston Heights offers more bungalows and mid-century homes, often at a lower price point, just north and west of Kenwood.
