THE AQUARIUM
Clearwater Beach Marine Aquarium is home to Winter the Dolphin! In winter 2005 a 3 month old dolphin was rescued from a crab trap that almost took her life. Sustaining injuries that eventually caused her too loose her tail, she was brought to the Clearwater Beach Marine Aquarium to begin her long journey toward recovery. Known to millions as “Winter”, this brave little dolphin not only recovered, but has become an inspiration to all who know her story.
The aquarium is also an operational marine animal hospital. There area opportunities for small groups to take a tour of the operating animal hospital and see the recovering marine life. The aquarium and marine hospital has a recover and release program, therefore, the type of marine life in the aquarium is always changing.
